The concept of memory is important in architecture and placemaking. An exploration of the morphology of context and historic typologies helps to create a dialogue between the reassurances of the past and the ever-changing patterns of 21st Century life. This publication presents Proctor & Matthews' thoughts on the relationship between architecture and memory through four recent projects. The theme of memory is also explored in a series of short essays; from the sampling techniques of Hip-Hop musical subculture to the role architecture plays in its ability to trigger a lifetime of memories in the twilight of life.
