Our collaborative project for the Eastfields Estate in the London Borough of Merton with Levitt Bernstein and Cullinan Studio has been highly commended for urban design and masterplanning at the Landscape Institute Awards. The awards celebrate the value of landscape in connecting people, places and nature by demonstrating excellence and innovation in the built environment.
The project aims to deliver a masterplan for a mixed tenure residential neighbourhood that retains the positive physical qualities of the existing estate while improving the quality of homes, the public realm and the relationship with the surrounding neighbourhoods. The new concept turns the estate 'inside out' reallocating green space while retaining the central green and most existing trees, helping to reduce the current feeling of isolation expressed by many residents. The judges described the approach to stakeholder engagement and resident involvement on the project as excellent.
