Directors Stephen and Andrew were invited to speak at the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage National Housing Conference. They presented the practices' approach to designing liveable neighbourhoods at Abode, Cambridge for Countryside and Hollystown, Fingal for Glenveagh.
Both neighbourhoods seek to provide healthy living environments, promote sustainable forms of transport and encourage a sense of community and good neighbourliness. Completed in 2019, Abode consists of over 400 new homes and community facilities. The project went on to receive over 10 design and construction awards including an RIBA National Award and the Civic Trust, National Panel Special Award in 2015.
Hollystown, Fingal will build on many of the design aspirations achieved at Abode providing 69 innovative new homes inspired by the arrangement of traditional Irish 'clachan' settlements.
The two-day conference titled ''Future Settlement: Living Cities & Towns'' included presentations from other notable speakers including Darragh O'Brien, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage and David Birkbeck, Director of the Housing Design Awards.
