Proctor and Matthews Architects will be hosting ‘A Narrative of Place: Housing Solutions for a Sustainable Community’ as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2016. The exhibition of selected projects will present a variety of case studies that include housing typologies and residential neighbourhoods designed for different urban densities across the UK.

In present day, local governments are striving to provide a framework that encourages the creation of sustainable communities, but how do you define what a sustainable community is? How is one created and how should it be sustained?

Through a comparative study of different projects and their contexts, the exhibition aims to open a discussion surrounding some of these questions, whilst focusing on housing as one of the main catalysts. The exhibition held on the 3rd of June will also draw reference to the wider factors that affect housing solutions such as evolving demographics and lifestyles, planning, regulation and land markets.
