Proctor and Matthews have submitted plans for a new urban extension to Canterbury.
Submitted on behalf of Kent-based developer Corinthian Land, it represents the first phase of a major residential development to the south of the city. The design of the 140 new homes incorporates an innovative approach to the aspirations of the ‘Garden City’, making these principles suitable for the 21st century.
The proposed residential clusters are configured as a series of courts made up of inter-connected ‘courtyard houses’ with an orchard landscape focus at the heart of each grouping.
The overall development will provide around 4,000 homes, office space, local shops, two new schools and a doctor’s surgery, to form the city’s biggest ever planning application.
