Hargood Close has been shortlisted in the Transformation Award category of The Sustainable Housing Awards 2013.
The Sustainable Housing Awards are organised by Inside Housing magazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing. Their objective is to put the spotlight on the best green social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a ceremony in London on 18 October.
At Hargood Close, Proctor and Matthews have replaced a run-down emergency hostel in Colchester with a new development, inspired by historic almshouses, that provides high quality, comfortable and dignified accommodation for homeless people.
Jess McCabe, Editor of Sustainable Housing magazine, said: ‘Now in their sixth year, the Sustainable Housing awards 2013 have, once again, been inundated with entries from the leading organisations featuring the most innovative and impressive projects in the UK. It is a brilliant achievement for Proctor and Matthews' Hargood Close to be shortlisted in the face of such fierce competition. We are thrilled to be able to host the awards ceremony that recognises the work of the housing sector’s sustainable pioneers.
