South Thamesmead Masterplan shortilsted for the WAF Awards

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) has revealed the shortlist for its 10th awards in Berlin this November. The awards for the festival, which this year has the theme of ‘Performance’, will be judged by more than 100 international judges.

The design concept for the South Thamesmead masterplan focuses on strengthening a linear connection from Abbey Wood Station to Southmere Lake and beyond. A new laneway – Southmere Lane – meanders across the existing urban grid, forming an enlivened sequence of streets, squares and active frontages improving the area’s sense of place, whilst offering a safe and logical route for cyclists and pedestrians.

WAF runs from 15-17 November in Franz Ahrens’ 1920s former bus depot, Arena Berlin.
