Polnoon - our exemplar residential neighbourhood in Renfrewshire - has won a Saltire Society Housing Design Award for housing innovation.
Polnoon is a development of 121 new homes, and is now nearing completion on site. It extends the existing 18th century conservation village of Eaglesham, located to the south west of Glasgow. Our design respects the scale and morphology of the existing village and surrounding moorland, through a masterplan configured to create a variety of streets, lanes, mews, courtyards and play areas. The contextual design approach utliises an architectural palette of gables, chimneys and articulated window surrounds - a contemporary response to local vernacular detailing.
The Saltire Society Housing Design Awards - now in their 76th year - recognise and advocate innovation and excellence in Scottish housebuilding and placemaking. The innovation award, sponsored by the Scottish Government, is designed to identify original thinking in housing design in Scotland.
